Google Removes Indexing API Approval Form From Docs
Source: Search Engine Journal

  • Google removed the Indexing API approval form and its "Request quota and approval" instructions from documentation on Oct. 16, with the changelog citing a move to reflect current quota limits and remove an outdated form.
  • The docs no longer explain how to submit an application, what happens to previously submitted requests, or whether projects that never got approval can now use their default quota for live job postings or livestreams.
  • Default limits remain: 200 publish requests per day per project (updates and removals combined), 180 metadata requests per minute, and 380 requests per minute across all endpoints, resetting at midnight Pacific.
  • The API is still limited to pages with JobPosting or BroadcastEvent embedded in a VideoObject, and spam policies still apply to submissions.
  • Google's job posting guide, last updated Sept. 8, still recommends the Indexing API over sitemaps for job posting URLs. Check current quota in the Google API Console.
